Ubuntu 18.04 LTS fails to install | ACPI Exception: AE_NOT_FOUND | NVIDIA GPU Hardware Error | nomodeset

If you are attempting to install Ubuntu 18.04 LTS on your computer that has an NVIDIA GPU, you might get this error.

Exception: AE_NOT_FOUND

NVIDIA GPU Hardware Error | Cuda Education | cudaeducation.com

Follow the instructions from this Dell Support website to fix the issue:

https://www.dell.com/support/article/uk/en/ukbsdt1/sln306327/manual-nomodeset-kernel-boot-line-option-for-linux-booting?lang=en

UPDATE: I’ve been having an issue where Ubuntu does not recognize my HDMI port and therefore I cannot use an external display. I’m not sure if this fix caused the problem. I have since completely formatted the drive partition where Ubuntu was on and reinstalled Ubuntu and everything works fine. When I did the reinstall, I did not have this hardware issue again, and my external display works fine. Again, I’m not sure if this hardware fix caused the HDMI issue, but just wanted to let you know my situation.
